My Story

I am raising money to support the amazing staff and volunteers of Evelina London Children's Charity. The hospital has given us so much help, support and care over the last four years.

My daughter Alice has a complex unexplained medical condition. She has been seen by many specialists and departments at the Evelina. She has received exceptional care throughout her time under Evelina.

The genetics team at Evelina have worked tirelessly to diagnose Alice, they have explained every step of this process to Rachael and I, unlike other hospitals we have been under they have also taken the time to explain everything to Alice.

Alice doesn't ever dread her Evelina appointments, even when blood tests are involved! She knows the doctors, therapists and support staff are fun and helpful.

Alice's diagnoses have evolved over her time under Evelina, this has required numerous appointments with many different specialists. The hospital work with us to ensure we don't have to travel to them unless totally necessary. They listened to Alice when she told them car journeys make her body hurt. The hospital ensured Alice's provision of local OT and PT services, including her wheelchair and home adaptations. This enables Alice to have as normal a life as possible.

The staff have also worked hard to ensure Rachael and I feel informed and supported to help Alice be the best version of herself. No question is too ridiculous and no one has avoided answering our more difficult questions.

Alice continues to be a mystery. She continues to have multiple and often very challenging needs. I hope raising money for Evelina will not only help her medical care but also that of other children and families facing the uncertainty over their health and futures. Evelina provides world leading care and expertise, our NHS needs support more than ever to help this work continue.

Please support me if you can, I'm not especially keen on heights but I know any extra funds for Evelina makes it worth it.

Thank you,

Sam
